A journey to the legendary Himalayan Lake, while walking on the mythical path once traversed by the Pandavas to reach heaven. The Satopanth or the path of truth trails to the triangular Satopanth Lake with soothing evergreen color. Trekking away from the human settlements, the Satopanth Trek takes you into the realm of high mountains silence, gigantic massifs, mystic glaciers, mammoth waterfalls, and sequestered stony caves.


The Satopnath Trek starts with a driveway to Badrinath passing through all of the five major confluences or Prayags (Devparyag, Rudraprayag, Karnaparyag, Nandparyag, and Vishnuprayag) from the Hindu mythology. Further, the trek continues to reach Laxmiban via Mana Village, the last village of the country, crossing the mythological Bhim Pul over the gushing Saraswati River. Journeying to the sounds of the Alaknanda River, the Satopath trail continues passing the Vasudhara waterfall and Sehestradhara falls.


Trekking through the Lakshmi van forest and open camping at the Chakratirtha meadow, the Satopanth trek witnesses the views of Chaukhamba, Swargarohini & Satopanth peaks. Feel the thrill, while hiking to the naturally created glacial bridge to Satopanth Lake. While, enjoying the spectacular view of Mt. Neelkanth with unique flora and fauna, as well as views of Alkapuri (the source of Alaknanda) from the spot. The entire trek passes through several massive mountains, small stones, and water streams that brush your feet throughout the trail.  Abundant with mythological as well as breathtaking natural sites, the Satopanth Trek marks its end with your arrival at Rishikesh back from Badrinath.

Satopanth Trek - 7D/6N

 

Day 1: Rishikesh to Badrinath


Drive: 305 km (9-10 hours)

Meal: Dinner

Stay: Stay in a hotel/guest house on a sharing basis.

Report at a scheduled spot at 8 am, meet our representative and start your drive to Joshimath.

Pass through all 5 confluence points (Devparyag, Rudraprayag, Karnaparyag, Nandparyag + 1)

Reach Badrinath and check in to the hotel/guest house. In the evening head out for a Badrinath market visit.

 

Day 2: Badrinath to Laxmiban


Altitude: 12,396 ft

Trek: 8 km (4-5 hours)

Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Evening Snacks + Dinner

Stay: Stay in tents on a sharing basis.

Wake up to a fresh morning, have your breakfast, and start your trek to Laxmiban.

The trek will pass through Bhim Pul and Saraswati River. You hike with the sound of the Alaknanda River.

You pass through the view of Vasundhara falls while walking in the meadow section,

Reach Laxmiban, pitch tents, and enjoy an open sky camping experience.

 

Day 3: Laxmiban to Chakratirth


Altitude: 13,911 ft

Trek: 10 km (6-7 hours)

Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Evening Snacks + Dinner

Stay: Stay in tents on a sharing basis.

Wake up have your breakfast, start your trek to Chakratirth. The route will pass through huge mountains and small stones and water streams touching your feet.

Enjoy View of Alkapuri (the origin place of Alaknanda) and the view of Sehestradhara falls.

Spot the magnificent view of Mt. Neelkanth with rare flora and fauna.

Reach Chakratirth, pitch your tents, and rest for the day with hot meals.

 

Day 4: Chakratirth to Satopanth Lake


Altitude: 14,650 ft

Trek: 6 km (4-5 hours)

Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Evening Snacks + Dinner

Stay: Stay in tents on a sharing basis.

Wake up have your breakfast, start your trek to Satopanth Lake.

Hike over the thrilling & toughest trail while enjoying the views of Chaukhamba, Swargarohini & Satopanth peaks.

Cross the naturally created glacier bridge, reach Satopanth Lake. Pitch your tents near the moraine section and retire for the day.

 

Day 5: Satopanth Lake to Chakratirth


Altitude: 13,911 ft

Trek: 6 km (4-5 hours)

Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Evening Snacks + Dinner

Stay: Stay in tents on a sharing basis.

Wake up have your breakfast, Take a small meditation around the lake and start to head back.

Hike down with the views of Chaukhamba, Swargarohini & Satopanth peaks.

Reach Chakratirth campsite, pitch your tents and with hot meals retire for the day.

 

Day 6: Chakratirth to Badrinath


Altitude: 10,170 ft., via 12,396 ft

Trek: 18 km (7-8 hours)

Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Evening Snacks + Dinner

Stay: Stay in a hotel/guest house on a sharing basis.

Wake up to a great morning, have your breakfast and start your challenging hike back to Badrinath.

The route is same as you stop at Laxmiban for Lunch and start the hike down to Badrinath.

Reach Badrinath and check in to your hotel/guest house and take rest after a heavy day.

 

Day 7: Badrinath to Rishikesh


Drive: 305 km (9-10 hours)

Meal: Breakfast

Wake up to a fresh morning, have your breakfast and bid bye to the adventures of Satopanth Trek.

Take the shared cab back to Rishikesh


The Trek ends here.

Air: You can book your flights for Dehradun (Jolly Grant airport) and from there take a shared or private cab to Rishikesh.

Road: You can take a bus to reach the Rishikesh bus stand and from there take the local transport to reach the pickup point.

Rail: Book a train to Rishikesh railway station and from take a private / shared cab to reach the pickup point.

6. Comfortable Trekking/Hiking shoes (shoes with a thick sole are recommended)

8. Raincoat / Poncho, Small light weight towel

9. Water bottle (sturdy ones, no empty Bisleri Bottles!!)

10. Cap / Hat to keep the strong sun away from your face

11. Sun glasses, Walking stick / Trekking pole

12. Sunscreen Lotion, Lip Balm, Torch / Flashlight (with extra batteries)

13. Medicines, if requiring any specific medication

Inclusions:

1. All stays included from Badrinath to Badtrinath on a sharing basis:

- Hotel/Lodge/Guest House on day 1 & 6.

- Dome tents from Day 2 to day 5

2. All meals included from Day 1 dinner to Day 7 breakfast. Vegetarian meals will be served throughout the trek.

- Meal include - Breakfast, Lunch, Evening Snacks, and Dinner.

3. Experienced and qualified local staff who have ample knowledge of the route

4. Hot water for drinking purposes is available at the respective campsites.

5. Kitchen, dining and toilet tents will be used during the trek.

6. Cooks/Helper for carrying common equipment like rations/tents/utensils/groceries.

7. The transportation from Rishikesh to Badrinath & back on day 1 & 7.

8. All trek essentials included –

Accommodation - tents, sleeping bags, sleeping mats etc.

Safety - a basic first aid kit with a portable oxygen cylinder.

Permit - forest and camping fee included.

 

Exclusions:

1. The above trek charges do not include the GST charges (5%).

2. Personal essentials -

Equipment - Gumboots, trekking poles, liners etc.

Insurance - Personal and travel insurances.

Beverage - Mineral water bottles/bottled or canned beverages

Snacks - Chocolate, dry fruits, protein or nutrition bar.

Entertainment - Camera or drone fees.

3. In case if your trek remains incomplete or uninitiated because of ""force majeure"", medical emergency or by personal choice after you arrive at the starting point, you will not be able to get refund, reschedule or replace any services that remain unutilized by you.

4. Any additional cost incurred due to changes in Government Guidelines related to travel/trek/COVID-19 will be borne by the Guest.

6. Separate tents can be provided on request at an additional cost

1. If cancellations are made within 2 days prior to the start of the trek, 100% advance will be charged as cancellation fee.

2. If cancellations are made between 3-7 days prior to the start of the trek, EITHER 75% of total package amount will be returned to the guest (25% of total package amount will be charged as cancellation fee) OR whole advance amount can be adjusted against any trek within next 6 months.

3. If cancellations are made prior to 7 days from the start of the trek, 100% of the total advance will be refunded.

4. If you book the trek by paying 25% of the booking amount and fail to make the 100% payment before 25 days from date of travel. In this case, your booking will get cancelled automatically and can only be reconfirmed once you make the full payment, depending on the availability of slots.

5. In case if your trek remains incomplete or uninitiated because of "force majeure", medical emergency or by personal choice after you arrive at the starting point, you will not be able to get refund, reschedule or replace any services that remain unutilized by you.

6. Cancellations are strictly subjected to cancellation policies mentioned on the website & are irrespective of the date of booking.

7. The applicable refund amount will be processed within 10 business days.
