Valley of Flowers trek is one of the most renowned Indian treks all across the continents. It is famous not only amongst the Indian community of trekkers but also amongst the Europeans.
The trek happens within the Valley of Flowers National park which was declared as the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002. It is also one of India’s oldest trek that makes it super popular.
It is a valley that radiates with innumerable colors of charming flowers. Red, pink, purple, and yellow are a few of the colors of the wildflowers.
Along with the beauty of flowers also comes the spirituality of Hemkunnd Sahib Gurudwara. Nestled deep in the valley of flowers, Uttarakhand at a height of 14,000 ft, it is one of the most beautiful sights to witness.
The Gurudwara inhabits a beautiful crystal clear lake that is snow-fed by the glaciers sitting on the sides and in the backdrop. In post-monsoon time with clouds hovering just above the building, the landscape almost looks like a paradise hidden in the mountains.
Right before the route towards the valley of flowers starts, there is a route that diverts to the Hemkund Sahib. The 6 hours long hike that instantly takes you from 9,400 ft to 14,100 ft exceptionally fulfilling. With peaceful Sikh pilgrims buzzing the way to the Gurudwara, the trail stays lively and joyous.
The valley of Flowers trek is an ideal trek that vaults the beauty of blooming flowers, lush green meadows, snow-clad mountains, and the spirituality of Hemkund Sahib. To get so much beauty all in one place is an exception in itself.
How is the weather like?
The Valley of Flowers is a typical monsoon and post-monsoon trek of India. The best time to visit the valley of flowers is in July, August, and early September. It is during this time, most of the flowers bloom and glow under the warm sun. If you are there at the correct time, you get to trek through an entire field of blossoming bright colored flowers.
As it is post-monsoon, the temperature doesn’t dip too much. On average, the day temperature swings between 5 - 10 degree celsius and in the night goes maximum between 0 - 5 degree celsius.
One of the best perks of this season is that the weather stays pleasant all around the day. During the time of drizzling, even a bunch of clouds comes down and hover just above your head.
Overall, as
far as the weather is concerned, you will have the most pleasant experience of
your life. The valley is at about 10,000 ft. above sea level that gives it the
benefit of being a colder region.
Where are you going to stay?
The only thing you will miss out on this trek is the thrilling camping experience. But guess what, to give you the exceptional experience possible, we have sorted a few of the best guest houses in the valley.
On all days, you will be allotted rooms on a sharing basis in the reserved guesthouse. Once you are there with us, you don't have to worry about your stay and food. One of the added perks of the guesthouses in the attached washroom facilities which you miss in the camp stays.
How difficult is the Valley of Flowers trek?
This trek comes under the easy to moderate category. The trail in the valley is fairly easy and plain. Especially during the autumn because of the meadows and flowers, you don't face any problems while trekking through.
The only part where you might feel exhausted or face difficulty is when you climb the Hemkund Sahib trail. The sudden change in altitude from 9,500 ft to 15,200 ft is due to the steep trail. But what’s best is that the trail is complemented by enormous views of the entire valley of flowers (Phoolo ki Ghati) and the great Himalayas.
As far as overall difficulty is concerned, this trek is also accessible to kids above 5 years of age to elders up to 75 years of age.
