It is said that the Pandavas went on to build the Kedarnath shrine. You can see their references in the carvings on the exterior walls of the mandir. Adi Shankara later went on to build a bit more around the temple. Legends say that the Pandava brothers seeked lord Shiva in repentance for having massacred their own kin. Shiva, not willing to forgive their sins, hid himself in Guptkashi. As you make your way to Guptkashi, you’ll pass through Devprayag and Rudraprayag, which offers breathtaking views of the river Alaknanda & Mandakini.

The day 2 of the Kedarnath package involves a 30km drive and 19km trek. Starting our day with a hearty breakfast, it’s time to start the drive to Sonparyag, and from there to Gauri Kund. Today is the day you’ll see the beautiful view of the shrine where Lord Shiva stays, you’ve been dreaming about.
Visit this beautiful house of prayer, participate in it, get lost in it’s beautiful architecture. Made out of massive grey blocks of stone, the temple for sure is a marvel to look at. Spend some time listening to mythological stories of this holy place and try connecting it’s dots with the Mahabharat epic. Move towards the allotted accommodation as evening falls, and take rest for the day after a delicious dinner.
The next morning marks the return of your journey. Eat your breakfast and don’t miss out on the morning aarti - It’s an essential part of the trip. Now begin your descent towards Gauri Kund the same way you came up. The day was setting when you climbed this way the last time, now the day is rising. Notice the difference between the morning colours and the evening colours reflecting on the mountain - just surreal. Meet your cabs waiting for you in GauriKund and now starts the 30km drive towards Gupt Kashi. You’ll be halting here not the night post some really amazing dinner.
Now, the final leg of the Kedarnath trip - it’s time to get up, have breakfast and settle in for another long drive to Haridwar. That marks the end of the trek.
