Kashmir's history and mythology

Geologists believe that Kashmir Valley was once in fact a lake. It is said that the lake seeped through Baramulla. The same account has been mentioned in the Hindu Mythology. It adds greatly to the tour package of Kashmir.

Shankaracharya Temple Srinagar

The temple dates back to 200 BCE. A favorite of the Buddhists, the temple was frequently visited by Adi Shankaracharya. Hence the name, Every year, the Kashmiri folk celebrate Mahashivratri at the temple with great energy and zeal. The temple rests on a stone and follows an octagonal structure. The temple is very popular for the Amarnath Yatra as well.

Shikara Ride in Dal Lake

You’ve probably heard about Dal lake if you haven’t even been to Kashmir. It is one of the most loved lakes in India for many reasons. The primary reason is that you get to sit in a Shikara. Try and settle a debate for us - is the lake prettier or the Shikara? Dal lake is affectionately known as the lake of flowers. It’s an important source of revenue for the people of Srinagar. It’s a very important part of the Kashmir Tour package to go for a shikara ride in dal lake.

Visit the golden meadow of Kashmir. “Son” means golden and “Marg” means meadow, hence the name. The journey from Srinagar to Sonamarg is incredibly scenic, as you will travel through some hamlets and be able to see crop fields on one side and rivers on the other. It’s a beautiful highlight of the tour package of Kashmir.

Pahalgam - Valley of Shepherds

You’ve probably seen this location in a movie or three. It’s a beautiful location where time stops for beauty. The beautiful hill station is the marking point of the beginning of the Lidder river and the Sheshnag Lake. Nestled in thick pine forests, the village shows a spectacular scenery of snowy mountains just standing over it.

Thajwas Glacier

It is one of the most stunning places you will ever see, overlooking the Thajiwas peak and flanked by grasslands, trees, and frozen lakes. Tourists come to Thajiwas Glacier to see the spectacular views, create snowmen, and take a sled trip. One can also go on a short stroll to the Thajiwas Glacier's adjacent cascades.

Gulmarg “Meadow of Flowers”

It’s not hard to guess that Gulmarg is studded with beautiful seasonal flowers. It was found in the 1600s by a Kashmiri great author who was captivated by the green hillsides filled with blossoms. Due to the significant snowfall, Gulmarg looks that much more magnificent in the wintertime. In the winter, it transforms into India's leading ski lodge. Gulmarg features one of the finest ski hills in the globe, as well as the 's tallest 18-hole golf circuit.

The Mughals liked their gardens neat, trimmed, and blossoming with countless flowers at the same time. Great cemented pathways to talk on, meticulously maintained gardens, and water fountains here can be found all over the place. The whole experience will make you feel like royalty. A leisurely stroll through the gardens will send you back to the time of emperors.

PariMahal & Palace of Fairies

A mystical palace where fairies live, you might think. Well, it’s the perfect landscape for fairies to roam about. It looks like a scene out of a fairy tale. The place resembles a cobblestone castle and fantastically dreamy gardens where fairies live. The backstory might not be a happy as the name. It is said to be a place where princesses were kidnapped and kept.

Garden of pleasure

The biggest Mughal garden in Srinagar, with seven terraces. It was conceived and constructed in 1633 by Asif Khan, the elder brother of Nur Jahan of the Taj Mahal fame, on the eastern bank of the Dal Lake. It's wonderfully groomed and full of dahlias and other floral plants, just like Shalimar Bagh! A true natural wonderland to enjoy!
