How to reach Nainital
Nainital is a beautiful hill station situated in the serene background of the Himalayan foothills. The Naini Lake, Snow View, and the sacred Naina Devi Temple are the places to visit in Nainital. For train and bus travel, one is advised to purchase them in advance as these will always be more costly when bought during the period considered to be a high season. The ideal time to visit Nainital is from March to June and again from September to November. However, limited public transportation makes movement difficult, especially during the monsoon period (July-August) which is associated with heavy rains and frequent landslides. By Air: Pantnagar Airport(approx 70 km) is the nearest airport to Nainital. Pantnagar Airport has limited connectivity, so you can use Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi (approx 300 km). You can hire a taxi/cab or take a bus to reach Nainital from Delhi or Pantnagar.
By Rail: Kathgodam Railway Station is the nearest railway station to Nainital( approx 34 km). Kathgodam is well-connected to major cities like Delhi, Lucknow, and Kolkata. After arriving at the railway station book a taxi or take shared cabs. Buses also ply regularly.
By Bus: Nainital is well-connected by road to various cities in North India, especially from Delhi (approx 300 km). Numerous private and Government operators offer bus services. The journey takes approximately 7-8 hours. Regular bus services are also available from nearby cities like Haldwani, Kathgodam, and Rudrapur.
